Thanks Frankymole - the picture restoration is brilliant otherwise but I just need to find out if it is just my set. Its too late to send back to amazon uk.

I have tried on sony widescreen tv and sony dvd player Frankymole, also have tried it on a computer external freecom dvd writer.

Just looked on the inner ring on the playing side and noticed a scratch all the way round so I think it is just my set.
Do you think I could return it for replacement?

As I raised the issue about a 'flicker' at the top of the screen of the black and white series 4 optimum set. I must say the picture quality of series 4 & 5 is very good. I also bought the series 5 contender dvds and these optimum releases are much better quality. There is no flicker on series 5...

Which are the worst affected episodes and approx. time for sound problems?
