Just to add my thanks to Alan. This is typical of the generosity and enthusiasm, his keeness to share and to help which I've been so fortunate enough to encounter numerous times over the last twenty years or so.

Oh definitely. I'm quite fond of Venus ... or rather both Venuses, the first one we get and then the one that suddenly becomes all Northern part-way through the run.

It's one of the few of the novels that I'm actually quite fond of and feel does capture the spirit of the show. Has the edge on "...Deadline" and certainly far superior to the Anthony Hussey/John Garforth quartet (which are enjoyable, just not "The Avengers"). But at the moment, ...

Hello Alan :) You are too kind, Andrew, my friend. A compliment like that from you makes all the effort more than worthwhile. Not too kind at all squire. When I say I like something, I mean it, and the work you guys put in on that site to bring new information to us all was quite remarkable. Just th...

Thank you to everyone over their very kind words about the slip. I've had an arthritic hip since 1983 and some days it's worse than others. Thankfully, the slip was more of a jarring then anything worse, but left me a bit wobbly for the rest of the day. Thankfully, after more anti-inflamatories, it ...

Dead Man's Treasure Hunt 2008

Just to say that the 22nd Dead Man's Treasure Hunt was staged last weekend (Friday 29 to Sunday 31) and was most enjoyable - a real credit to the organisation of Chris Bentley, Nick Williams and newcomers Wiebke Köppen and Mark Grattan (who, sadly, couldn't make it through injury - get well soon Mar...

They're excellent fun and well worth hearing. In terms of background, just about everything you could wish to know about them can be found at Alan and Alys Hayes' superb website devoted to the series:

Hope this is of use. :)

All the best

Still very fond of this film indeed ... for all it faults, and it does have many. And I do think that if the footage was restored and material placed in its correct sequence, it would be far more coherent, stylish and enjoyable.

All the best
