There's also a tiny bit right at the end of Act 3 of "A Sense of History" (before the epilogue with the motorcycle) which is really low res and seems to have been recovered from video tape.

Yes it was the whipping scene that was reduced in length.

Yes, all were telerecorded, some of them from live transmission. There's a memo proposing a catch-up season for areas that missed out on the early episodes.

Ah, found it. Yes it was Rediffusion, they cut the scene by 38 seconds. Someone told me the other day that that's the version being shown on Hulu. that seems to be a common trait ..shaving time off episodes, to squeeze in..etc....when they knocked off 38 seconds, was it noticeable ? Yes, apparently...
