Re: When did you discover The Avengers?

In 1964, when I was 9, I used to pick up a periodical entitled -- I kid you not -- 'Castle of Frankenstein,' which mainly followed horror films, as its title suggests, but also covered a broad swath of eccentric film and TV: B films, fantasy (such as Jean Cocteau), etc. One issue (#5, I think) cont...

I'm a 25 year old young man and I discovered the Avengers when I was just a kid, around 8 or 9. The oldest memory I've got of the show is Steed shooting targets thrown in the air by Mrs. Peel in a Monochrome episode (I think it was Quick Quick Slow Death). I immediately sympathized with these quirk...

Which means that The Joker is also a poor episode? No I wouldn't say that. And by the way, I just knew someone was gonna bring that up when I wrote my previous post. Steed is definitely the backbone of the show, but in my humble opinion, a solo Steed is frankly a bit dull to watch *ducks for rotten...

Sometimes the solo episodes do work: e.g. Tara in All Done with Mirrors and Steed in Take Over but with the Rigg seasons I personally think that Peel without Steed works better than Steed without Peel. With The Superlative Seven I just think it's a bit formulaic and Seven Little Indians. Not the wo...

I don't know, although there is something static about the Superlative Seven I quite like Steed on his own. Of course the episodes with great chemistry between Steed and his partners are the best, but the one-avenger-centred episode are nice and work too break up the usual patern. The Superlative 7...

Re: When did you discover The Avengers ?

I discovered the show in 1996, my aunt adored the series and still does. She told me sometimes "I'm going to watch the Avengers". One afternoon, I decided to watch the series with her, and I saw NEVER NEVER SAY DIE. Something happened, I don't know why, but I was literaly captivated by th...
