Re: Could have been Liza
Personally, I think Linda was the perfect choice to play Tara King and doubt any one could have played the part better. I love how the producers tried something different by making Tara a young agent fresh out of training. Overall, the Avengers got it right with all of its leading actors. That said,...

Re: The latest Avengers TV reboot attempt announced
If it was a continuation of the TV series, I'd probably be more interested. However, it sounds as though they are planning a reboot with new actors playing Steed, and presumably Mrs Peel. I did notice the Radio Times article mentioned that it was expected the show would see the return of characters ...

There's a short tribute to Laurie Johnson in this week's Big Finish podcast. It starts around the 3 minute point:

Re: Imprint Films: The Avengers - The Tara King Collection coming Nov. 29
I'm slowly working my way through this set and the similar Emma Peel set from Imprint. Current having Avengers evenings once a week where I watch four episodes (one each from seasons 4 to 6, plus one of earlier videotaped episodes from seasons 1 to 3 that have been included as extras) and am really ...

Re: The Lost Episodes - series discussion
I notice that all seven volumes of The Avengers The Lost Episode are available to buy on Audible. Sorry if this is old news, but I've only just seen it!

Re: New Avengers
It's interesting that since his introduction in season 6, The New Avengers is the only version of the show in which Mother hasn't appeared (having featured in the stage play, radio series, movie and audiobook series).

Re: Gordon Jackson
Watched a 1953 film the other day called Death Goes To School in which Gordon Jackson played a Scots police detective. It's about the murder of an unpopular teacher at an all-girls school. Overall, it was relatively enjoyable, but did get a bit repetitive as the staff were interviewed one by one.

Re: Laurie Johnson
That's very sad news.
There's this post on Facebook with a message from his family, although I haven't seen reports in the official news media yet

Re: New Avengers
I guess The New Avengers could have worked without Steed. I think Patrick himself once said that maybe it should have just featured Gambit and Purdey as the next generation of Avengers. However, personally for me, Steed is such an integral part of the show that I can't imagine it without him.

Re: The latest Avengers TV reboot attempt announced
I just think of other 60s and 70s revivals - Kojak, Starsky and Hutch, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), The Tomorrow People, The Prisoner... all failures to one extent or another. Why not come up with a new, exciting show? Is there such a lack of writing and acting talent now that they can't do that...
