By today's standards, the special effects look quite comical. But somehow, this doesn't seem to matter.
It's still a gripping storyline, and because of this, the episode succeeds.

Probably influenced by the Day of the Triffids movie of 1962 ....which is no bad thing. :)

This series has a wonderful freshness to it and a terrific colour palette which no doubt will look gorgeous after it's remastering. The 4 Emma Peel jigsaws are incredibly hard to find. After searching for years, I managed to buy the CASTLE DE'ATH one at a Memorabilia Show in Birmingham (England). Who's who? - Hit or Miss

For me it's definitely a hit. :)

Along with MANEATER OF SURREY GREEN and MISSION HIGHLY IMPROBABLE, plus a few others, it's one of "semi sci-fi" episodes. :shock:

I always thought these were more exciting than some of the more 'normal' murder investigation episodes.

Things you (not) only find in the Avengers

I heard somewhere that scientists in the USA are trying to create artificial rain clouds, to make the very dry parts of the world a bit more soggy!

I just hope they don't overdo things, and end up drowning people as in A SURFEIT OF H2O. :wink:
