Re: John Nettleton 1929-2023
... And recently seen to great effect in Michael Palin's East of Ipswich which the BBC repeated a few weeks back in one of their rare 'oh, we have an archive!' moments. So many Yes Minister moments one could quote, but a favourite of mine is: Sir Humphrey: Oh, by the way, how are things at Freedom o...

Re: Who owns The Avengers?
A belated update to my original query. The Avengers is owned outright by Studio Canal and as an overseas producer, they pass royalties to British Equity Collection Society for onward distribution. It's a fairly miniscule amount which is distributed on a non pro-rata basis. It could almost be called ...

Re: Who owns The Avengers?
Thanks everyone for such informative replies. I've gotten to the bottom of it now having been in touch with Equity. It was only an oversight on their part that they were not paying out Noon Doomsday. The sums involved are tiny, but obviously that's never the point. So, yes, Studio Canal is the one o...

Who owns The Avengers?
Who owns The Avengers? I'm looking into a bit of a mystery regarding the royalties that my later father gets for his television work. Payments for The Avengers come through the British Equity Collection Society which handles overseas royalties on behalf of its members. Now, I have a raft of stateme...

Re: Murray Melvin (1932-2023)
I have a fantasy list of people I'd care to bump into and so that's another name I'll have to cross off it. 'He'd had a fall' ... the heart always sinks on reading that statement. George Bernard Shaw had been doing fine at 94 until he decided to ascend a ladder to lop a tree in his garden at Ayot St...

I would say it was just a couple of years back, but 2005-2007 would be more like it. Anyway, she did a tremendous job in Hugo Blick's Sensitive Skin as just gone sixty woman 'coping with life's unexpected problems'. She had a sister to him she was desperately close, played by the brilliant Maggie St...

Re: "Daily Cinema"
There's an awful lot of data available for TV and film production. Have you checked out your dad's contract files at the BBC Written Archive Centre? I'm sure you'd find it massively useful. All the best Andrew PS: Have you checked out the paperwork held by the BFI? Or anything that the Kaleidoscope...

Brilliant! Wonderful to hear about the friendship with Peter Bowles. I'm just going to link to a tribute I wrote for PB which I'll drop into his obit post on Avengers People. A jolly good read, even if I say so myself. Actually, I can leave it here as well: mckennawhitefilms.com/fanmailrichande-951...
