The original Jaguar XJ12-C Broadspeed that appeared in the cult 1970’s TV series, The New Avengers, sold at auction Thursday, October 15, for £62,000 – some £50,000 over initial estimates.

Does anyone have any news regarding the current whereabouts of this vehicle?

It was still a topic of conversation at the Treasure Hunt event, with one attendee having dropped out of the bidding at £25,000.

Sadly, there isn't much information available. I, for one, do hope the new owner treats this beautiful car with more respect and restores it. It'd be a shame otherwise.

The company Cheshire Classic Cars is doing the restoration on John Steed's TNS Januar XJ 12.

There are several photos on their website about the rebuilding of the car.

Interesting to see the restoration. I have to admit I hadn't realised that it was only a Broadspeed body kit and that the car was mechanically standard. I had completely overlooked that it was an automatic! That makes the auction price paid even more inexplicable.

Unfortunately according to the thread on Pistonheads, Cheshire Classic Cars went into administration last Friday and the staff have all been given notice.

I love this car, even though I'm usually not that fond of seventies auto mobiles.

I'm afraid I don't know anything above what is on Pistonheads. The Administrators were "BM Advisory" and they state in a release that they sold the business as a going concern to a "wholly owned subsidiary of FCFM Group".
www.bm-advisory.com. FCM Group, it appears, are a London based investment company.

Hopefully, then, the business is still running; their website has been taken down and their Facebook page deleted but, curiously, they are still advertising cars for sale on one of the classic car sales sites: www.carandclassic.co.uk.

None of this answers the question of what the owner has done with "Steed's" Jaguar. The DVLA site still shows it as not taxed for road use and no M.O.T. (although at over forty years old it now doesn't require one).

Only historical information, sadly, no further updates on the actual car. Interesting anyway and some previously unseen footage of the car before it was auctioned.
