I hate to throw a 'Spaniard in the Works' - but I don't think this was filmed at Beachy Head anymore - see http://avengerland.theavengers.tv/spotting/spot3.htm
Oh I'm certain it's Beachy Head but it's a long stretch of coast line and what with the cliff edge falling away constantly, pin-pointing the exact spots isn't very likely.
The area seen in the episode is quite distinctive - so how can it not be located if it is Beachy Head? And I promise you I've spent a LOT of time looking.

Before I start listing the reasons that this is probably NOT Beachy Head.

Go and visit this site and tell me honestly that this is not a better match for the sequence.

Ah, you could be right. That stretch of coast does look very similar.

Anyway, it's a lovely place for a good bit of hiking when the weather's brilliant.:)

When Guthrie runs along the cliff there is a brief glimps of buildings sitting on top of a chalk cliff - that is the key that enabled me to open the lock! This location is now 100% found and it was neither of the above!

The pub sells good beer and is also a B&B. Friends of mine had their wedding reception at Stocks Hotel and we stayed there the night, it was Playboy's UK HQ in the 70's and what is now the bridal suite has a huge, avocado-green hot tub in the middle of a mirrored room. I'm sure I have a picture somewhere...

Was this wedding reception recently? If so, glad to see all the renovation is finally finished!
About five years ago, but it didn't look as if it needed any renovation in my opinion! I hope they have kept the hot tub...

Last time I was there was 2007 and it was absolutely gutted. We asked if we could take some outside photos and we were refused...I had been for afternoon tea there when it was a golf club and it din't look like it needed renovating then...
