It's so close that one is just a tiny variation on the other.
Definitely not "The Age of Elegance" though - that's by Ron Grainer!
Yeah, that was just added to the menu of the Contender DVD, I think someone was just having a laugh.
It seems Laurie Johnson didn't just have a blank sheet when he was asked to write the then new Avengers theme tune but, in the best 'Blue Peter' tradition, presented one he'd made earlier!

well..that sorta reminds me about the uproar over who 'WROTE' the
James Bond theme, as first heard in Dr.No..
John Barry claimed it came from an old tune, called 'bees knees'
well, at least the bulk of it...while Monty Norman claimed it came from
an older tune he wrote a few yrs before Dr.NO..
I knew they went to court over this....several times..
Funny, Norman never did another BOND film....while Barry went on to
do many of them...and I believe NORMAN only did one final film
for Harry Saltzman...a Bob Hope film, 'call me bwana' which the poster
is seen in a scene in FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE...
Laurie Johnson film career, wasn't as big, as I thought it could have been.
strange...
