sounds logical to me...i wonder if the show, would even benefit from
blu-ray release ????
It was made on 35mm film, so spruced-up and remastered it should look like it was filmed yesterday, on BluRay.

Does anyone know if Blu-ray is regional like DVD? Does someone in the US have to buy a multi-region Blu-ray player to play a UK Blu-ray disc?

There are just three Blu-ray regions (compared to something like 8 for DVD).

Unfortunately, the USA is in a different Blu-ray region to the UK. USA is Region A, the UK is in Region B. Multi-region mods are possible but currently very expensive.

At the moment it's academic anyway, as there is no confirmation of a UK Blu-ray release of The Avengers.

Hopefully their is some decent blu ray news soon!!

I'm still trying to decide about ordering the Tara King episodes. I'm watching the US A&E versions that I borrowed.

Noticed some severe film damage in some episodes.

The Avengers would be amazing on blu ray. Hopefully they can make it happen!!

Alan, you said you've seen some footage on blu-ray (was it Gravediggers?), so obviously something is going on. Did you see a test, a preview disc? Please let us know (if you can).

BR as a system is a dead duck. This year two companies will release two different successors to BR, both of which use 3D technology. It are Sony (yes, the BR manufacturer) and Panasonic. (Both probably hope to cash in ot the 3D Avatar success)
So, the old format war starts again.
But it also means that people who want to buy the latest stuff, will leave BR for what it is, and jump to the new 3D systems.
That means that traditional DVD will stay around for quite a long time, as Optimum probably has guessed when they decided to produce new DVD sets of Seasons 1&2.
Prrr......

It's way too early to declare 3D a serious threat to the home movie market. There is virtually no worthwhile content in 3D and I hardly think anyone will be racing out to upgrade their TVs again just say they can see My Bloody Valentine 3D at home.
