I would dearly love to see a proper release with the best source material possible..and cleaned up..along with some great extras..

one day, it'll happen....(sigh)

That day has come with the new Optimum releases. I don't think it will get any better then that.

Now we just need blu ray releases of the episodes. 1080p would be great!

A whole ten pounds and eighty pence?

What does that actually mean? 1080p? Is it a pixel width?

Sorry for the confusion. 1080p is full HD format and resolution, which blu ray is capable of.

There is quite a bit more information about 1080p here as well:

Thanks, Lando, very educational.

It'd be a shame if a lesser definition were used.

The Prisoner looks amazing, but it's only 17 episodes, whereas Avengers seasons were much longer, so much more expensive to master.

Allard wrote:But in short:

Dutch A-Film release:

Pro's:
* Superb disc, no playback issues.
* Cheap.
* Overall picture quality is good.

Con's:
* Some Tara Kings have less good picture quality.
* Some episodes maybe cut.
* Not remastered as good as the Optimum release.
* No extras (not counting the flimsy filmographies).
* Some minor but stupid flaws:
- Mixed up and wrong episode titles and descriptions.
- Italian title sequence for Pandora.
- Rotters and Invasion of Earthman menu links mixed up.

UK (new) Optimum release:

Pro's:
* An incredible baggage of extras.
* Best remastering until now.
* Done with great accuracy and expertise (by Jaz and Alan).

Con's:
* Expensive.

I am not aware of any playback issues.

If you want to know more, please read through this thread first. If you can't find it feel free to ask.

I forgot, the Dutch Season 4 release has the French title sequence and not the original, also the episodes have cuts. Hence I don't own this DVD box and that's why I forgot to mention it.

This is on sale on eBay, for the first time for as far as I know:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/8DVD-Box-THE-AVEN ... 3efe0b7589

The Emma Peel colour season A-Film DVD's in a special box, that was sold by the broadcaster that aired the Peel colours in 2003. In the shops they were sold in 4 separate boxes each containing 2 DVD's. The current edition is also one box, but not with eight 14mm cases but with four slim cases.

So ask me anything you want, or read through this thread I already gave lengthy explanations about these DVD's.

I have those boxes since two years or so. The only new thing is the big box in which they've put the smaller boxes.
Prrr......

Just wanted to share this picture with you. Although the Dutch A Film DVD release of the Avengers haven't much going for them, they do look lovely when arranged on colour.
