A kind of New Tricks-Avengers would be an interesting concept. Two mature/ex agents, but it's a bit too removed from the original concept to be The Avengers.

I have no doubt that The Avengers will be revived - it's still such a great brand as is Bond and Who franchises. So The Avengers will have it's turn again one day in one form or another. Fan versions on the Internet probably.

Every day I expect an announcement from the BBC or AMC that a revival is being planned.

My preference is that it is left alone, secure in my own thoughts that there has only ever been one John Steed, one Emma Peel and so on.

The Avengers has been remade often of course, in a matter of speaking. It's influence on TV series (and other things) that did not try to remake the Avengers has still been influenced by it. I dare to say that the Avengers is so well know that it's almost omnipresent in popular culture. And the Avengers always was very much it's on thing, unlike anything else. So the best remake of the Avengers would therefore not be the Avengers, but something else that was it's own strong thing in itself.

Yeah, just make a show like The Avengers, then no-one can say 'Hey, s/he's miscast as Steed/Tara/Gambit/whatever.

Call it 'The Quintessentials'
