British Legends of Stage and Screen: Diana Rigg

The Avengers star reveals how she auditioned on a whim for the part of Emma Peel and describes her reaction to the instant fame brought by the role

In an intimate interview, Diana Rigg discusses her transition from shy outsider to accomplished star of the stage and screen. Seemingly destined to tread the boards as a classical actress, she reveals how she auditioned on a whim for quirky series The Avengers in 1965, and describes with horror the instant celebrity that came with her role as Emma Peel.

Rigg also discusses how her early passion for literature inspired her training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and talks about her fascinating experiences at both the Repertory Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

"I suspect that few who saw Diana Rigg’s award-winning Medea for Jonathan Kent at the Almeida 20 years ago have forgotten that performance. "

An article about Diana Rigg's daughter, Rachael Stirling, who is about to play Medea.

Interesting.
Thanks for sharing, ischtar. :D
So sad, that Diana's Medea-performance wasn't filmed, so that we could watch it. :(
