The LocateTV guide http://www.locatetv.com/tv/avengers/episode-guide is also quite amusing, with its succinct (one sentence) episode descriptions!

I wish True Entertainment would stretch the picture to 16:9 ratio, as BBC4 did, instead of keeping it at 4:3. Some of Laurie Johnson's most atmospheric music in this superb episode.

Someone on Roobarb's said "It was actually 4:3 pillar boxed in a 16:9 frame but then broadcast as 4:3! Which means that if you have a 4:3 tv like me, it was unwatchable."

The channel's Twitter feed made a bizarre claim:

''The 1st series not lost to us all (the first three original series have all been lost) of the one and only AVENGERS start tonight on #Truent''

Yeah, the episodes made around this period (Town, Castle De'ath, 13th Hole, Hour that Never Was) have my favourite Johnson scores.

Great to see The Avengers back on the telly but what a strange presentation it is! The picture is very narrow. I'm surprised as most of the channel's output is 4x3 which they seem to have no problem with!?

I had a look at The Gravediggers repeat briefly and the aspect ratio didn't translate well...
