The German and British discs are identical, pressed from the same master. You choose which language menus to access via an opening 'Deutschland / United Kingdom' screen.

The English part of the discs have English hard of hearing soundtracks. The German side, I assume, uses these subtitle tracks similarly.

The only material difference between the German and UK sets will be the covers, cardboard slips and on-body disc artwork.

Discussion about whether Series 1-3 would look better on Blu-ray split off into its own topic:

Any news regarding the packaging? Will the UK release be digipaking or are the discs in Amray style cases?

Judging by the packshot, it looks like a multi-disc Amaray case with a card 'o-ring' slip cover.

I can live with that.

Me too. I'm not a fan of the slimline cases used for the DVDs - much too fiddly - so a multi-disc case would suit me fine.

Actually, on closer inspection of the packshots at Amazon UK, it looks like the discs are held in a digipak.

My feelings too. Easily cracked in shipment and impossible to fix. Amaray cases are by far the best option, are probably cheaper than multi-single or double cases and Digipaks and yet companies still insist on using the latter, more's the pity.

Oh well, the content's the important thing!
