8 - probably should have rated it a 9, but the wacky old General is a bit overdone for my tastes.

Immensely entertaining. Love Steed with the big mustache having a conversation in acronyms. And Mrs. Peel discovering that the ladies' man would prefer a quiet night of board gaming.

Steeds three "incarnations" of the armed forces stereotypes is one of the best Steed bits from the entire series. (A lot more entertaining than his butler.)

In that regard, nothing has changed in the services since! Still alphabet soup.

Vice Admiral Willows is played by Humphrey Lestocq.

This seems to have been his final TV role. However, intriguingly he played "Ex-Flight Lieutenant Peter Potts" in several different BBC series in the 1950s:

There was a real life Peter Potts, a Flying Officer with the Royal Australian Air Force:

It's not clear if the apparently adventure-oriented series bore any relation to the real-life person. The series are all sadly lost, it seems.
Does anyone know any more about these intriguing series, or indeed about Lestocq, who died in 1984, but stopped acting on TV in 1966 (in his late forties)?
