John Nettleton 1929-2023
British actor John Nettleton has passed away, having played many parts he also featured in The Avengers episodes THE SEE-THROUGH MAN and THE ROTTERS, but will probably be best know as the arch bureaucrat Sir Arnold in Yes (Prime) Minister a role in which he shinned in my humble opinion.

Brilliant in the Avengers-adjacent Clemens/Nation/Fennel/Johnson suspense film "And Soon The Darkness". (Photo courtesy of Rodney Marshall)

... And recently seen to great effect in Michael Palin's East of Ipswich which the BBC repeated a few weeks back in one of their rare 'oh, we have an archive!' moments.
So many Yes Minister moments one could quote, but a favourite of mine is:
Sir Humphrey: Oh, by the way, how are things at Freedom of Information?
Sir Arnold: [peremptory pause] 'SORRY ... I can't talk about that. [continues with soup.]

I considered posting the video of that Yes Minister line along here/ It was not only clever and funny, but perfectly delivered.
