Colour

Post by emmaslave »

I guess big American money had a lot to do with the advent of colour...
or should that be color ? and as if by magic... the lovely Diana appeared
at the same time !

So those cumbersome TV cameras gave way to new technology ... lighter
cameras shooting 35 mm film... allowing better quality visuals and lots of location shooting....
It was a heady mixture... Emma in her stylish lycra outfit walking through an english village...
driving through leafy country lanes..... it was freedom.... this is how television was meant to be .

I think I read that the series has been shown in 90 plus countries.... so it
has been a huge success story .... probably only the big soaps have exceeded its sales ?

Yes the press reports from the time all seem to indicate it was American sales that allowed the series to move onto film. And that kind of made it eternal...

true, the influx of money, from the U.S. , certainly allowed 'changes'...but from what I've read over the years, the series was sold to what, over 90 markets ? that alone should have helped ease depending on American ABC, for needed funds
