Sad news, actor John Savident has passed away. He was in The Avengers episode My Wildest Dream, and so much more legendary television. Especially dear to my heart were his Blakes 7 appearances, Spyder's Web, and Doctor Who's The Visitation.

I saw the news and immediately thought of My Wildest Dream. Another great actor gone.

He had such a long and varied career that most people will have a memory of him in one production or another. For me, he will always be Forrester in Tightrope.

For me it's Yes Minister and, perhaps oddly, T.Bag, that come to mind for me most other than The Avengers.

Re: John Savident (1938-2024)
In the UK he was best known as Fred Elliott in Coronation Street, a role he played for over ten years. As well as The Avengers he popped up in several classic ITC shows such as The Saint, Department S, and Man in a suitcase, which is probably the next best 60s series after The Avengers. RIP.

Indeed sad, another one gone.
Quite the memorable performance he had in The Avengers given it was a small part.
For me he will always be Sir Freddy on Yes Minister.
