Well, the gin-trap he gets caught in probably wouldn't have broken his leg as it's toothed (with rubber teeth!!). Interestingly, real gin-traps were banned in 1958 so Mellors is a very naughty boy.

Silent Dust is an interesting one. The story has the somewhat less refined development that reminds of the videotaped ere and it is not as well a constructed episode as the rest of series four. Yet I love it for its atmosphere and charming scenes. The slightly haunting outside scenes remind of Les Amants by Louis Malle, the night scene is extraordinarily beautiful in my opinion. Maybe it is a mediocre episode, maybe it is a wonderful collection of scenes that are aesthetic yet not an optimal working whole.
