A 1977 image of Steed from the New Avengers driving the Jaguar Broadspeed XJ12-C
It's my understadning that the car was crafted & modified specially for the series
And was an automatic even though the producers made it sound like a manual shift though sound effects!
Steed coming to a stop under a very bright studio flood light on the track at Silverstone, home of the British Grand Pirx
I'm not a car guy so if anyone knows more please contribute!

Re: What A Ride!!
Yes you are correct, it had the Broadspeed body kit but was otherwise a standard Jaguar XJC with an automatic 'box.
There is a lengthy thread about what became of the car here: John Steed's TNA Jaguar for sale.
In brief: about 10 years ago it was pulled from a damp lockup in very poor condition and sold at auction for £62,000. It was then entrusted to a restoration company which went bust before the job was done and the car disappeared again.

That's a shame. I hope someone properly restores this famous car. It even got a mention by Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear, so is clearly fondly remembered. The Big Cat.

Love Steeds TNA car, even though he also drives a Land Rover (or Jeep) which is a much more believable choice of car than that very low Jaguar for a man in his fifties. ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
