Cleo Laine is still alive so she would own all the rights to John's work.
Yes, Ms. Laine is still with us....and I'm sure she is aware of both John's work, and the impact it has made..and she probably handles inquires etc on the music..and when she finally passes, then both her music, and John's would probably be left to heirs, and/or/trust...etc
If I remember correctly the Dankworth children (or some of them) are also musicians and have preformed with them.
But I wouldn't expect them to come up with an Avengers soundtrack release, someone who produces such releases might very well get their cooperation though.
Allard, you are right about the children, being musicians, etc...and unless Studio Canal. takes a renewed interest in either Dankworth's or Laurie's music..it'll probably sit in the archives, unless another company -or-CD group, takes a keen interest...and I don't expect there CD release, to be a big seller..of course, I would love to see a VINYL Lp issue....but probably not.....hmmm, how about for Record Store day in 2024 ?

Aside from the library of cues that Dankworth did for the series, they did use additional library music. One brassy library cue used in The Golden Eggs pops up in in the one off late 90's ITV spoof 'The Preventers' - at 22:22
The video of the Preventers has disappeared but I've found the track that appeared in it! Finally!
A Trevor Duncan track called "Quotations for Murder, Section 6"
