One of the toughest poll questions!

1. Season 3 - Yes there are some episodes I rarely if ever visit but the heights are sooo high for me. Clemens best work in this season.
2. Season 6 - I love the feel, the whole atmosphere and the look.
3. Season 4 - The series found a look that was so right.
4. NA Season 1 - The season with the money of the two so the quality is up.
5. Season 2 - I've not finished going through it all yet but I love the variety to this season and hope to love more episodes soon.
6. Season 1 - I expect this would raise with more episodes to view. I love all that remains.
7. NA season 2 - These episodes have really grown on me, mostly for Purdey/Gambit interaction but the quality is down.
8. Season 5 - There are some top quality episodes in this season but it's all such a dirge at times. I just prefer that little extra bit of depth.

Aside from season 5, they'd probably all be in a new place next week.

1. Season 4 THE season, for me.
2. Season 6, at its best more inventive than the colour Rigg
3. TNA Season 1 a most promising re-start
4. Season 3, some classics
5. Season 5 a veritable curate's egg
6. Season 2 even more uneven
7. TNA Season 2, what can I say other than 'made in Britain' should have meant just that
8. Season 1, an unknown quantity

My off-the-cuff ranking would have been:

1. Season 4 - I can see a lot of people trying to be iconoclastic about this one, but really...
2. Season 5 - Nobody gets the better of Emma Peel.
3. Season 6 - Some of the episodes are excellent, although others are terrible.
4. TNA S1 - Purdey and Gambit's banter is great, but a lot of the stories are rather derivative.
5. Season 3 - A few great episodes, but most are dreary.
6. TNA S2 - Pretty weak.
7. Season 2 - Mr Teddy Bear was good, otherwise it was about as much fun as a root canal.

I didn't rank S1 because I've only ever seen a little bit of it.

However, I had some difficulty in deciding on some of my rankings. I was particularly unsure about whether S6 or TNA S1 should be in third place, so I went back and rated the episodes I'd seen from each season to work out averages. That led to a slightly different final result:

1. Season 4 - It really is the best one. There are so many excellent episodes.
2. Season 5 - Very variable, but there are quite a few excellent episodes to boost the score.
3. TNA S1 - A shortage of really great episodes, but fewer clunkers, so third place.
4. Season 6 - There are some really great stories, but there are rather a lot of terrible episodes, hurting its average score.

Big gap

5. TNA S2 - Well, the action does move around and it is in colour.
6. Season 3 - I love Cathy Gale, but most of the episodes are very boring.
7. Season 2 - At least a root canal is quicker.

Very interesting results so far! I knew there would be a few bizarre choices here, but three of you (mentioning no names!) have given new meaning to the word bizarre!!!! Clearly then, Mrs Peel is not going to have things all her own way. Still, it's great to see that all seasons have their own army of fans on this forum. Keep your choices coming. Rich.

I've just always found what came before and after the 'Emma' era much more original and fresh in it's approach and I adore Honor Blackman and Linda Thorson! :o

I couldn't agree more. Both these women had the hardest job of all. Blackman for introducing and maintaining the whole 'woman as an equal partner' thing, and Thorson for having to follow in the formidible footsteps of the wildly popular Rigg.
