Explain, there have been bluray releases of 35mm B&W films dating back prior to the 1920's. The 4th series of The Avengers was shot on 35mm film in agreement with the extra funding from the US where it aired as well. The Cathy Gale episodes shot the 405 line British standard used at the time will max out on dvd. The B&W Emma Peel episodes not even close. Actually to max out the resolution of 35mm film you need 4k. That's right bluray or HD can't capture all the resolution from 35mm film. The resolution is at least 3x greater than the resolution HD can offer.
I am not saying the remastered episodes were done in 4k. They were remastered in HD. So bluray will easily work. The B&W Peel episodes look just as stunning as the color episodes.

Also why was a bluray version of series 4 planned to be released? This was the first title.
Will there be Avengers Blu Rays?

Rumor has it bluray release of season 4 coming in Sept. to France.
Kind of what I posted years ago. Milking the consumer to buy the dvd's and then releasing bluray verisons that fan will rebuy again. Hopefully the US gets a distributer. Hey $25 for series 5 is a steal but I can't stand apple stuff. Would love a bluray set of series 4-6 and 1-3 remastered on dvd.

Most likely region locked to UK? Will there be a US release of the series on blu ray?timlamb wrote:Rumor is Sept. to Nov. for British release of season 4 bluray. Like I said years ago the masters were done in HD in 2009-10. Simply a matter of putting them on a disc.
It's a pity that region locking still exists. There's no reason for it at this point.
