I am also saddened to hear about Don Leaver. My thoughts are with him and his family.

As for writing a critique 50 years later, I think you are right Franky, that would not be easy. I am amazed from listening to the commentaries at how much is remembered. I recall listening to Roger Marshall's commentary on the DVD's for Dial and he said that he actually consulted a doctor for authenticity of whether the method of murder would actually work. He clearly put a tremendous amount of research and work into Dial.

He always used a doctor friend of his, Phyllis, for help on medical matters.

Sad to hear about Don. I recall he had to pull out of the 50th celebrations due to ill health.

He was a superb director and the series lost out on his talent in later years.

He was a victim of Clemens' desire to use better known directors/movie directors and he felt most unwelcome in the monochrome film season as he revealed to Jaz on the commentary for The House That Jack Built.

sadly, the changing of the guard..while dealing at times with Clemens mega manic empire..
Clemens sometimes hurt the show, more than helped it...in my opinion

Very sad to hear this - my thoughts are with Don, a wonderfully gifted director, and his family.
