I there anyone still alive from the prop department on TA? Has anyone ever interviewed them? It would actually be very interesting to learn.

I never considered that TA may have had a prop dept as such, but I suppose they must have. It's not something I think has ever been talked about.

Ian

I would have thought that although specialist items required by the scripts on The New Avengers were built as when required, the more everyday props required as set dressing would have simply been rented from the props department at Pinewood Studios.

3/4 of the way through finishing the sculpting of the mask now  the New Avengers Cybernauts really are very different design from those that feature in the 60's Avengers.

It's odd, isn't it? The Emma Peel cybernauts were much better than the TNA ones, which look like awful papier mâché masks (and probably were!)
Mrs Peel, you're needed!

I don't like them at all. Indeed, they were actually masks, but made from fibreglass, all be it really rough.

Finding wire framed sunglasses the same, or even vaguely similar to those featured on TNA Cybernauts has been proving very difficult. The squarish shaped lens style is, I assume, a 70's thing, most of the glasses today seem to be tear drop shaped.

Lordy, TNA Cybernauts really are tacky looking

What I opted to do was buy the pair below, which although very, very closely matched the style over the bridge of the nose as the ones seen in the show had the wrong shaped lens's. I've removed the lens's (plus the ear grips) and reshaped the frames to match the ones seen on screen. Now all I have to do is cut new shaped lens's from acrylic and fit them back in the frames, Mmmmmm, easier said than done, probably .... :?

Bit of an update on the New Avengers Cybernaut. Still some tweaking to do on the facial features, the back of the skull to make and a steel paint job. Chose a Homburg hat this time around, as that appears to be the style worn by this version of Cybernaut.
