I love those sequences like when they drive passed a pub and the drinkers all cheer, it's really charming.
I've just got a Dutch DVD set so I went straight to Don't Look Now. It only took five minutes to find the actual pub used - still open too!
Maybe you could take a picture and post it on this forum, that would be another nice present day location photo.

The pub is closer to you than it is to me!

Details are already in A Guide to Avengerland - as I say only a couple of minutes on Google found it. I can only hope that the other location footage from this season will be as easy to identify.

Hi guys :)

Finally got chance to dig out some of my notes for the 1962-1964 episodes and have a look at the inserts and recording schedules. Although I've seen scripts to all 52 episodes, not all of them were camera scripts, so as such this list won't be 100% comprehensive. But here's some bits and pieces if they're of interest.

Under the subject of pre-recording as Ampex inserts, these were generally fight sequences or other complex sets of scenes. Sometimes they were to do with costume and make-up requirements which significantly differed from the bulk of the episode. What I have is as follows:

Episode 27: "Mission to Montreal"
The opening sequence at the film studio

Episode 32: "Propellant 23"
The scene of Cathy and Steed talking in the parked car was recorded in the scene dock at Teddington between 7pm to 9pm, the day before the main recording took place in Studio 2.

Episode 36: "The Removal Men"
The sequence in the studio foyer

Episode 37: "Death of a Great Dane"
One of the scenes with Steed and Cathy at Cathy's apartment at night

Episode 39: "Death on the Rocks"
The final shoot-out in the living room

Episode 40: "Traitor in Zebra"
The early scenes in Nash's office and Steed talking to Crane in his room

Episode 15: "The Big Thinker"
The opening scene in the Main Control Area and the sequence in the amusement arcade

Episode 42: "Intercrime"
Most of Part Three from the scene of Cathy and Lobb in the back room, through to just before the final scene in Steed's living room

Episode 32: "Immortal Clay"
The fight sequence with De Groot at the pottery shop

Episode 18: "Box of Tricks"
Scenes at the Gemini including the action material at the end of the episode

Episode 31: "Warlock"
Steed and Cathy in the car

Episode 50: "A Chorus of Frogs"
The deck scene at the end of Part One and the shoot out scene in the lab

Episode 51: "Six Hands Across a Table"
Scenes with Cathy and Seabrook in the Draughting Room

Episode 52: "Killer Whale"
The fight between Tiger and Joey (intercut with "live" reactions of Steed and co) and the final scene at Cathy's flat

"Don't Look Behind You"
Most of the end of Part Three

"Man with Two Shadows"
Six inserts recorded across two tapes for the doubles scenes with Daniel Moynihan as both real and fake Gordons as well as material with Patrick Mancee as Steed's Double such as the scene of him entering the chalet and hiding in the shower

Episode 57: "Death a la Carte"
Two sequences of Steed on the roof

Episode 64: "November 5"
The end of Part One and the final sequence in the House of Commons lobby

Episode 66: "The Secrets Broker"
All the action scenes at the end of Part Three

Episode 68: "The Medicine Men"
The scenes in the Turkish Bath and the final scene at Steed's flat

Episode 69: "The White Elephant"
Steed at the foundry, and the action scene at the end of Part Three

Episode 70: "Dressed to Kill"
The opening and closing scenes at Steed's flat

Episode 71: "The Wringer"
Steed and Cathy in the culvert, and the final scene in Steed's flat

Episode 72: "The Little Wonders"
The end of Part Two and the action sequence at the end of Part Three

Episode 73: "Mandrake"
The opening scene, the infamous fight at the end of Part Two, and a shot of the grave for the final scene

Episode 74: "Trojan Horse"
The action material in the harness room and outside the stables at the end of Part Three

Episode 75: "The Outside-In Man"
Scens at the cottage in Part Three and the material in the Embassy garage

Episode 76: "The Charmers"
The action scene in the Charm School at the end of the episode, plus two scenes in the Charm School at night

"Esprit de Corps"
Four sequences were pre-recorded as exteriors, including the firing squad and the barracks exteriors. The Ampex pre-recording the day before the main studio then covered the action sequences at the Civil Defence Centre.

Hope that's of interest.

All the best

Andrew

Thanks for sharing that, Andrew.

Most of them I was probably aware of but a few like "Don't Look Behind You" didn't stand out. I'll have to watch out for that if it's obvious by things like hair and make up on Cathy.

I've just started to go through the Season Three episodes looking for locations.

So far it's been like shooting fish in a barrel.

For instance, the water mill in 'Build a Better Mousetrap' has its name and location painted on it!

Having the series on DVD helps a hell of a lot.

I hope my luck holds out!
