Also John Cleese performance is great.
If he was so petrified of the eggs breaking, why didn't he just hard boil them before painting on the clown's face?
What, and have a shop full of stinky, rotting eggs?

I love "Stop me...." It's great :D of course it's bizzare but great :D
I'm also wondering why they didn't use boiled eggs ;-)

And a love the end when Steed and Tara are dancing to the circus-melody. :D

Actually you wouldn't boil the eggs since decay would eventually settle in. You blow out their contents like the guy did in the original collection. Of course it made for a bit with John Cleese

Thanks for that too. Interesting from the information ("Mr. Bult kept his collection at home, occasionally loaning it out for show, such as at the 1951 Centenary Exhibition of the Crystal Palace. The collection continued to be lent out after Mr. Bult's death but sadly most of the eggs were destroyed in an accident at one such exhibit around 1965"), that this happened, and just before the episode was written too! Based on this fact perhaps?

Oh, without a shadow of a doubt I'm sure a lot of Avengers - and other - stories and situations were based on a newspaper story or odd bit of news. Brian Clemens once said they had to compete with stories in the news about poisoning Castro's boot polish and the like.
