Just thought I would pass on my condolences at his passing... there is nothing in entertainment that wasn't automatically made better by Mr. Macnee being in it. And aside from the awesomeness of the Avengers, he was in some other great shows & movies, like the Howling, and a cool 2 parter on the original Battlestar Galactica, and about a billion other things.

Patrick:
Thank you so much for sending a card all the way to Aus when our daughter was born two decades ago. Thanks for thinking of our family and signing so many copies of books and photographs for us. Thanks for serving your country, and the cause of freedom, during the dark days of World War Two. Thanks for giving us such a role model of what a true gentleman, and a great actor, should be. Thanks for all the inspiration, and all those wonderful Avengers stories. "Long, happy memories".

IanBeard on Roobarb's said this, and he's not wrong, it's a nice gallery:

"The Mirror gave Patrick a whole page, and there's some nice images on it's website..."

This was front page news on a number of British newspapers and most of them have run tributes to Patrick.

Just seen the very sad news - news I was dreading.
Patrick was an magnificent icon of British and international television, film and stage.
He made acting look so effortless and joyous.
No one could wear a bowler with such style as Patrick

What a sad year; our two Mr Avengers Brian Clemens and now Patrick have left the stage.

In addition to Police Surgeon, The Avengers and The New Avengers I remember Patrick in a wonderfully funny Python-esque US comedy series called Empire which I hope gets a DVD release and in one of the most ingenious TV film murder-mysteries I've seen - Rehearsal For Murder.

Thank you Patrick for making John Steed one of my lifelong heroes and for all the fabulously stylish thrilling entertainment.
God Bless you, Patrick a true English gentle-man.
RIP Patrick
