I loved that Joanna mentioned Gareth in her speech. I think that with all the attention paid to the ground-breaking women (and rightly so), people sort of forget that it takes a very special male actor to be willing to share the screen with them. Indeed. He remains the quintessential Englishman.
He wasn't even recognised for the Bafta, when each of his partners got one. It was left to Diana Rigg to recognise Patrick's huge contribution (as Joanna did with Gareth).
