I'm surprised Diana's going, but it's nice to hear that she is.

I don't see why she'd need to do any damage control now, after so many years of not having much to do with the show. Is there some sort of great Diana backlash I've not heard about? Not just from the 50th Anniversary event, surely?Dandy Forsdyke wrote:As I've said elsewhere, it sounds like a damage limitation excercise but I hope it's a pleasent experience for her and everone has a great day.

Rachael was doing fundraising for a cause this year, I seem to remember--breast cancer, perhaps? Maybe Diana's doing it to chip in? Or maybe she had a chat with Linda or someone else who'd just done a fan event, and they convinced her to give it a try. Either way, I'd like to see it as a positive thing.Dandy Forsdyke wrote:You're probably right, Timeless. I believe an autograph costs £35 each and she might be doing this as a charitable donation. I read MLP's post on Roobarb's that Linda Thorson did this at the Chichester Avengers weekend.

First I asked, "I understand that you object to signing Avengers items" she replied "Yes".
"Can I be cheeky and ask the reason, are you embarrassed or moved on?"
"Not at all, I used to sign regularly, but would then see them going on sale on auction sites. I got a little cheesed off, so stopped"
I then produced my book saying "That's a shame, as I have this signed by Patrick and all the girls except you. Would love to add you to it. They're all personalised and have no intention of selling". She took the book to peruse. "Nice book! Personalised? Which photo would you like?" She promptly signed, personallised and with a wink said "that's the exception to the rule. Could be worth something"
I replied "only to me! Many thanks"
So not quite the cold heart that some are depicting here. Met her again since escorting her daughter and just as nice, however business like. No autographs that time but a very nice little chat."

I met Diana Rigg in Brooklyn after I saw her with a friend during the impressive play "Phedre" at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Only he and I stood outside the back door waiting for her to come out, and she was pretty much the last actor to do so. She was shorter in person than I expected. I only had a TV Guide with "Diana" on the cover, one of her infamous professional failures, but as I wasn't really that much of a fan of hers, it was the only thing I had accumulated related to Rigg, and only because the episode, "You Can't Go Back" with Pat is wonderful.
She made a little comment on the TV Guide, no surprise, but did indeed sign it in a pleasant way. I have to admit it was very gracious of her. She chatted another minute or so, shook my male friend's hand, and then hopped into her limo. It was the only time I've met her.
I just share this showing that she can be nice when fans approach with dated souvenirs of her acting career. Although, I do think she should have had some sort of video or other presence at the celebration.
