Next up .... The claws, I think I've finally come up with a way to make them in fibreglass.

To quote from the episode, 'Creation and creator fused into one... Mrs Peel!'

This looks the business now. All the hard working in painting the lettering by hand appears to have paid off.

Thanks Mike. very kind :D I painted it all by hand with the exception of 'ENTERPRISES'. I think I'm actually going to hang this one in the front porch.

Making the claws was always a bug to me because I dreaded the thought of having to make eight 'fingers' (I get bored quickly doing repetitive stuff). However I thought of a way to create them really quickly in fibreglass. I've just knocked this rough test one up in literally 10 minutes - cool, about an hour and I'll have em all done

I'm wondering how hard it would be to make this ....

Image

.... a lot tougher than it looks I'm thinking, Plasticine would be out of the question, it wouldn't last 5 minutes, and trying to gouge scratches like that out of something solid isn't simple. And the lettering would have go on first so one mistake with the scratching and it's screwed !

I really have no idea Mike. Clay painted blue and then torn open like that would reveal the clays natural colour underneath surely :? I think you were right the first time, it's a form of blue Plasticine (I would never have thought of that), rolled out, the lettering painted on and then gouged with a sharp instrument. And the scratches aren't cleverly painted on because they are casting shadows. Very hard to replicate (maybe impossible) in a more sturdy form. The more solid version seen in Epic doesn't really interest or inspire me. Maybe studying the scene where it's scratched will reveal something
