That's about 34, isn't it.

Responses to polls often don't get out of the teens so I think you've done pretty well.

Given that our active readership is about that number I'd cut my losses and calculate based on what you've got.

p.s. thanks for no longer using one of my images as your avatar.

Top 10

I may be seen as a heretic here but here goes. Made in the 60’s, the Avengers can seem a little slow paced for a modern viewer, and some of the episodes aren’t that good. But this misses the point of a top 10, it’s the memories that the episodes evoke. The Avengers reminds me of different periods in my life, ranging from being a very young boy, staying up late with my parents when all I really remember was the closing credits of series 6, wanting to do card tricks, to being an adult, rushing home from work every Thursday night to watch it on BBC4.

1. The hour that never was – just a damned good episode

2. Murdersville – memories of making a detour home via Aldbury on my birthday, seeing where Mrs Peel was ducked

3. Who’s who – Stead carries a gun, calls Mrs Peel Emma. Great fun

4. The £50,000 breakfast – I can’t think of a better justification for crime, “ it’s the power that excites me Mr Steed I want to be ill mannered and rude and uncouth and order people about, especially women. I look forward to being excessively rude to a considerable number of hansom women.”

5. The joker – In a world where kids today have ipads, bratz dolls, face time, seeing my 9 year old niece transfixed and slightly scared watching this with me. I hope she remembers that when she’s an adult and finds the avengers for herself.

6. All done with mirrors – seeing this episode with live commentary at Chichester. Oh and Linda Thorson was hot.

7. A funny thing happened on the way to the station. – John Laurie, what a star.

8. Dead Man’s Treasure - again great fun,

9. The forget me knot – mostly forgettable, but the last 5 minutes are genuinely sad and mark the end of an era.

10. The Winged Avenger – I was attacked by the winged avenger in Chichester, its true

Heheh, I see what you did there :)

Oh my goodness! What happened?

Although old telly can seem slow compared to modern crash-bang stuff, I find that it makes up for it in depth - better acting, more developed performances and time to get in some humour and fun alongside the breathless threat. Few modern programmes manage that balance.
