Sean Connery's Snowplough

Post by MikeR »

Is it me, or is Sean Connery's Rolls Royce snowplough missing from The Avengers film DVD print?

This was included on the print shown on Five some years ago.

Well this footage was never something I saw when I saw it at the cinema and I've never seen it in any other broadcast of the film.

I've seen storyboard sketches.

Are you sure you didn't imagine it..?

I’m absolutely sure it was in the print that was on Five some years ago.

The vehicle definitely existed as I saw it when I visited Pinewood Studios when the film was in production.

The guy in charge of the motor vehicles on the film was proud to tell me it was the only Rolls Royce to ever have a snowplough fitted.

He figured that it would feature heavily in The Avengers film, but it was on screen for about two seconds.

Wasn't it also in the trailer out before the original release?

Okay memory deceives… the snowplough was not in the film, but now I know exactly where I saw the Rolls Royce snowplough (besides Pinewood Studios), it’s in the Welcome to Avengersland documentary about making the film.

There’s a shot of what I assume to be the second unit filming it going through the snow at night.

Obviously this scene was removed during editing.

Mystery solves.

I don't think I've seen this "Welcome to Avengersland" documentary. Who made it and when was it on?

Darren

It was made in 1997 while the film was in production by Special Treats Production Co, who have since made various doucumantaries about the Bond films.

I cannot remember it being shown on British TV, plus the production is not listed at IMDB.

After the negative reaction to the movie, I suspect there was not that much call for anyone to screen this.
