Looking through Big Finish's audio book ranges I noticed that a number are based on characters who appeared in individual Dr Who serials. That got me thinking about which minor characters from The Avengers/New Avengers had the potential to appear in their own spin off show.
My first thoughts are series based around Baron von Kurt from They Keep Killing Steed (could be The Avengers equivalent of Simon Templar) or Hana Wilde from the Superlative Seven might have been quite fun. So too might something with Sidney Street and Humbert Green from Legacy of Death. (Although on second thoughts, they might have become a bit annoying)!
Which characters do you think deserved a spin off series?

Cathy Gale! I'd love to know what she got up to after Fort Knox.
The further adventures of Hickey the tramp from "The Hour That Never Was". Good scope for varied locations (usually with dustbins/trashcans).
Olga from the Volga, coming to terms with the decadent West.
Trouble is, most of the good characters get bumped off.

OP said incidental characters, not leads, so Cathy & Venus are out.
Hickey was killed, so he is too (unless you do a lead-up series, which would be pretty downbeat).
von Kurt is a great idea.
I'd like to see more of Kim Lawrence (as the actress said to the bishop) or Merlin, or more humorously, Sir Horace Winslip's ongoing war with the motor-car.
"The Adventures of Ambassador Brodney" anyone?
...
thought not.

What a good idea for a thread. I'm drawing a blank, but Baron von Kurt, Kim Lawrence, and Merlin are all great ideas. Purdey's stepfather the Bishop might be good as well, following him as he checks out strange happenings in his local village with side plots about domestic life with Purdey's mom, who sounds like quite the lady. Guest appearances from Joanna when Purdey dropped by for lunch and a visit.

I'm fond of Brodny, a little. But enough was enough.dissolute wrote:Sir Horace Winslip's ongoing war with the motor-car.

Yay to "Sir Horace Winslip's ongoing war with the motor-car" though. We need him more than ever! He can add in diesel trains.
I'm drawing a blank on Kim Lawrence - who she?

I actually liked Brodney. Presumably his show would entirely consist of him trying desperately not to get posted back to Russia.Frankymole wrote:I'm fond of Brodny, a little. But enough was enough.dissolute wrote:Sir Horace Winslip's ongoing war with the motor-car.

Kim Lawrence was Steed's actress partner in The Charmers, as played by Fenella Fielding.
