It's a portrait still although the same shot exists (more or less) in landscape in the opening teaser of the episode.

I do see some differences - having to do with Mr. Kirby's neck wear/ascot

White in one image and black in the other

Interesting that they would do a wardrobe change or that they would have two different & separate sessions for something this simple!

The still are done in rehearsal so there are often changes when they come to do the final filming.

The picture on the poster does look younger than Peter Wyngarde was even in his earlier episode. Do you think he supplied them with a photo from a previous role or publicity shot? I'd love to see the original.

Or maybe the art department "de-aged" him with some airbrushing...

I agree with you.

He most certainly does look a decade or so younger doesn't he?

Perhaps he was asked to supply an image or offered to do so and chose one he liked a lot?
