Rained today and I had a lot of time on my hands so...here are the average ratings for the Season 4 episodes:

Biggest surprises to me were how high The House that Jack Built was rated and how low Small Game for Big Hunters was rated. Overall though pretty reasonable for such a small sample.

An interesting list. Where did the figures come from (I'm assuming they are NOT for the original UK broadcast)?

My numbers come from the votes in the poll in this section of the forum.
The House that Jack Built is one of my favorites but in most"Top 10" polls I've seen it's not usually rated this high and definitely not higher than Too Many Christmas Trees.

Ah, I see. Sorry, I thought by ratings you meant the original viewing figures.

Having just watched the last Avengers episode I thought for my own amusement I would take the average ratings given in the polls here for all the film series episodes combined,

One of my personal favourites, "Dead Man's Treasure" just missed out of the top 10 by 0.003.

Even removing the rouge "-1" score from "Homicide..." didn't prevent it from being the clear loser.

The average of all episodes by season were

Standard Deviation
The least variance of ratings, and therefore the episodes we all agree about, were:

while the ones that divided opinion the most were:

72. 6.40 Legacy of Death (6.16)
37. 7.80 A Touch of Brimstone (4.21)

My most contested:
And finally, the ones that I personally marked furthest from the average were the bottom-placed "Homicide and Old Lace" (6.30) which I loved enough to give an 8, and "Take-Over" (6.32) which averaged 8.31 here but only rated a 3 with me.

"The House that Jack Built" may have been my childhood entry drug to the Avengers and still ranks highly for me. Or it may have been The Hour that Never Was. I have strong memories of both, especially the milk truck.

Edit: Another is "The Winged Avenger," but I didn't like it nearly as well as the other two.

Boo! I like "Small Game For Big Hunters". That was why I chose it to write about in Rodders' "Bright Horizons" book.

I'd love to see the whole list, if you still have it - especially the most varied / deviations.

it seems that over the years, my opinion on several episodes, has changed since I first viewed 'em..either by U.S. ABC, or yrs later, when A & E put them out on VHS...THEY only looking much better..when they went to DVD..
