I can remember Dave telling me that the printers he used would only accept a print run of 1000 copies minimum, which after moving some to specialist shops like Forbidden Planet, meant he still had a vast amount of each issue left. Before he went to live in Turkey, Dave did say that he had boxes full of back issues that he would have to dispose of. However, I think he did sell some copies to a cult film and TV dealer in Nottingham called Jeremy Guy, who if anyone is interested might still have some.

Great to see the mention of Steven and Joy - wonderful people who have done so much for Avengerdom and its fans over the decades

Yes, I used to exchange correspondence with Steve and Joy Curry every 6 months or so at one point, but eventually lost touch.

Hi Mike
Congratulations on all the great work you are doing in the Avengers publication field - unfortunately, careers and work do make spare time short at times, both for posting and keeping up with folks. But your own work is also ensuring that the Avengers will be around for a long time yet
Cheers

I became a member in 1985 and still have all the On Target and Stay tuned magazines. The earlier ones from 1983/4 I bought years later on ebay. I even managed to find the introductory issue which was a small poster magazine. I do miss these popping through my letter box every quarter :!: The readership were also sent a copy of Saga of happy valley, an Australian Mrs Peel novel. I met Dave Rogers in '97 along with Patrick Macnee when they were both signing the Avengers and me book. The last issue I had was in 1999, and sadly the magazine folded. Does anyone know what Dave is up to these days :?: Rich.

Reading this thread brings back many different fond memories! I still have 10 issues of On Target: The Avengers, including some of the early A5 size ones that look like photocopies. Yes, it was always nice to receive those little magazines through the post. Since I worked in Soho in the 80's/90's I was a frequent lunchtime visitor to the Forbidden Planet shop, and used to sometimes buy another magazine you all might remember called Top Secret. They sometimes had an article about The Avengers, and looking at one now I see that Dave Rogers had a column in it called Dead Line.

Happy memories of drinking with Tise Vahimagi in The Troy Club (which wasn't very far from the BFI where he worked). I remember many drunken late night chats in that fine drinking establishment, run by the irrepressible Helen Law, especially with writer John Brosnan (who had a column in Starburst magazine), broadcaster Ian Fennell (he often used to take a turn serving at the bar!) and actor Tony Jackson (perhaps best known from the sitcom Bless This House). Week in, week out, it was a great place to be after a long day and still makes me smile after all these years. For example, after a very involved chat about the Bond films with John Brosnan, because of something in what he said I asked, "John, who was it who wrote James Bond in the Cinema?" John looked into his beer and said, "I did." That night I found out I owned three of his cinema books instead of two.

Tise helped out with the last few issues of Action TV. I went along to the BFI reading rooms when they were at Stephen Street some years ago, where Tise and Tony Mechele showed me some very interesting material they had there, including a run of The Hollywood Reporter from the sixties.
