Quintessential poll - series 6 the Tara King episodes

Post by Allard »

Typically fans of tv shows get asked what is their favourite episode. I want to ask which episode you think or experience as being most typical of each series of The Avengers. So NOT your favourite, but which episode you think represents a certain series best. Second poll: the Tara King episodes

please elaborate in a reply if you have more than one episode (the forum will only allow one vote) or if you wish to discuss or motivate your choice.

I think I'll go with Take Me To Your Leader.

Despite the fact that season six has more variety of episodes compared to season five certainly - the majority of episodes have a form, a shape that involves Mother and more of the organisation.

myself, I love ' bizarre' and yeah, it's the phrasing out of the Peel era, and signaling the arrival of Tara....but some of us, would disagree...

I picked Game. Mirrors is my favourite but maybe not the one that best represents the series as a whole, though this in itself is difficult to judge as there is such a variety of styles. Game is very surreal, and as series 6 is the most surreal of all seasons I choose Game, which is my second favourite Tara episode.

if I had to pick a 'pure' Tara episode, instead of Bizarre, I guess I would go with ' Look '......

I'm with you, I think "Look..." is probably the most typical. Though it was a hugely inventive and varied season and it's almost impossible to pin down a "formula".

That's why I love it far more than the colo(u)r Emma episodes which were more standardized, though they went a bit crazier towards the end (thank goodness).

It's also why only partisan idiots write it off. Some of the best of the Avengers is there; Brian Clemens said it was the season with the best scripts overall, taken as a whole.

Fog is definitely not typical (though wonderful).

I voted for All Done With Mirrors. So sue me.

Ha, Franky, it was me who voted for Fog. The fog itself is really not in the style of the Avengers, although a series of murders, a mysterious killer, Tara in trouble and other delights are present.

Funny, it seems that at the moment almost all the voters have actually chosen not quite typical episodes. :)

Take Me To Your Leader

The heroes are trying to trace the chain of messengers, which leads to the leader. Very atypical.

All Done With Mirrors

Steed mostly sits around, Tara works a lot by herself. Not typical. :D

Look- (stop me if you've heard this one) But There Were These Two Fellers...

This is very comedic episode like The Girl from Auntie and Legacy of Death, which is atypical for the Avengers.

Bizarre

This is rather in the style of colored Emma Peel episodes, where are The Living Dead, Never, Never Say Die and The Joker.

Game

This is the only one more or less typical, although finding clues at the crime scene and putting them together is something atypical.

I think that in essence the typical episodes will be those that are more straightforward with some mystery and elements of sci-fi, like You'll Catch Your Death and The Rotters.

Good! It's my joint favourite, with "Mirrors". Both are as "typical" of their season(s) as Murdersville is!

Great, Franky, we are like-minded people. Fog and Mirrors are my favorites too. Although my mother thinks Fog is terrible.
