I only see the outer jacket moving together as you look down, and the overlap hidden by Diana's knee. Not even a full half of the waistcoat is visible, let alone another half going under or over it.

Yes, that's what I meant - the lapels of the jacket will overlap the same way as the waistcoat, so the photo is the right way round as the left lapel is in front.

I'm not sure it does. The resolution is so low, it's equally likely the right lapel just curves down and they meet at Diana's knee before any overlap is visible.

It's very indistinct, but the shiny-all-over box looks like the all-gold effect box of the Benson and Hedges brand my parents used to smoke in the early 70s. Possibly.

Are there any Diana experts who know which brands she preferred at various times?

Well, how about Pat's hair? The wave always seems to go the way it is in this photo, and Diana normally has her hair parted on the side we see it parted in this. I can't see any scar on her temple which would have helped.
