It's nice to see Godfrey Quigley again (the Avengers' first villain actor!)

This was recorded the day JFK was assassinated, so perhaps the hornbill's sad demise didn't receive as much coverage as it could have...

I said, girl I'm just a vampire for your love
23 November 2023

A chance sighting of a photograph from The Kiss of the Vampire made me realise that the actor playing Goliath in Death of a Batman is the wrestler Stan Simmons, which would explain his flying leap over the counter in the florist's shop.

Out in the fashion show, down in the bargain bin
30 November 2023

Death at Bargain Prices gets bigger cast photos for all those extras in the background - it nearly killed me! Just as well I did as I spotted series regular Tony Mendelssohn, so he has been added. It is also revised with quotations and footnotes and additional trivia.

Dressing up to touch all this

Dressed To Kill turns sixty today! Brian Clemens' riveting plot about an enemy spy using the cover of a costume party to buy up land around early warning stations is a highlight of series 3 and so good it was re-made several times in various forms. Visit if you haven't already to enjoy the expanded new style and updated cast photos.

Perhaps my favourite episode in the videotaped series. I used to watch it every New Year's Eve. With some well-known comedy names for their time who could also play straight roles, like John Junkin and Leonard Rossiter.

You take the high road and I'll take the low road
13 December 2023

Man, where's your dignity? Castle De’Ath is revised in the new format, with any wee cast photos replaced by full main gud ones, and quotations and footnotes added the the plot outline. Also a wee snippet or two about trivial matters. I couldn't decide on the best video, so here's two this time, one authentically dour, then other with the more well known lyrics:

Ring, ring, why don't you give me a call?
20 December 2023

The Wringer, a cracking Cold War brain-washing traitor thriller from the pen of Martin Woodhouse finished recording sixty years ago today. A superb story, a little bit From Russia With Love, a lot The Ipcress File, with great performances by the whole cast.
