Re: Emma Peel's Lotus
My second-ever car was an MGB Roadster, it was a 1969 model and I drove it for several years. The Elan was more expensive and much rarer, but one parked next to me once in the office carpark and I remember thinking I wouldn't swap.

Re: 1.03 - Square Root Of Evil
The previous "suspect" photo seems to have come from https://booksenstock.forumactif.com/t2379-heron-carvic, though I was reading up on a published (in book form) family biography by one of his relatives around the internet (can't find it now) and also saw it on some page linked to that b...

Re: Fate of the white Lotus Elan (series 4)
A bit off-topic... I mentioned Freewheelers earlier, a fondly remembered thriller/spy series for children which ran for 8 series between 1968 and 1973. By sheer coincidence whilst wandering around a car show in Birmingham this weekend I came across one of the cars featured in that programme - a Stim...

Re: Fate of the white Lotus Elan (series 4)
There are some discussions about its whereabouts at Lotus Elan Net Forums oddly enough, but the only lead seemed to go private: https://lotuselan.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=33149 The Deryck who posted in the Lotus forum is Deryck Norville, the owner of the 'Piddington Collection'. Deryck t...

Re: Fate of the white Lotus Elan (series 4)
HNK 999C belonged to Lotus and was returned to them after filming. I seem to remember the wife of one of the company directors had it for a while.
Many of Lotus's own cars had "999" registrations.

Re: Emma Peel's Lotus
well, 146, isn't all that shabby....despite the hype for a projected bidding frenzy Indeed! In fact, according to this article it is " ... the record highest amount ever paid for an Elan at a live auction. ". There were several iconic Elans sold from that collection. The others went for a...

Re: Emma Peel's Lotus
£146,000 was the winning bid, i.e. "hammer price".
The "sold for" price of £164.250 is what the buyer will have paid with the buyer's commission (plus VAT).
