If I might, a short note on heraldry and in which direction lions face. Heraldic notation is based on the point of view of the bearer of the arms. Therefore, a lion rampant on arms typically faces dexter (right). I say typically, because the supporting lion (rampant guardant) on the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom faces sinister (left)
That notwithstanding, it is perfectly reasonable for us to describe the lion facing left since we are viewing the arms from the front. After all, there wouldn't be much to see from the back. ;o)
No criticism intended - just an observation.

Is that last one the lion they used to print on eggs? When we went to work on one. (An egg, not a lion.)Ian Wegg wrote:

"Go to work on an egg". That's got to be the most successful bit of branding ever, still recognisable after all these years.Frankymole wrote: Is that last one the lion they used to print on eggs? When we went to work on one. (An egg, not a lion.)

Amazingly it's got a website. The lovely Tony Hancock and Patricia Hayes (now there's an actress who should've been an Avengers eccentric). http://www.gotoworkonanegg.co.uk/watch_ ... verts.htmlIan Wegg wrote:"Go to work on an egg". Youtube has lots of the ads too.
Did you know that the advertising slogan was recently banned?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -diet.html
"The egg industry wanted to rerun the 1960s television adverts, starring Tony Hancock, to mark the 50th anniversary of the iconic campaign's original use on billboards and newspapers in 1957. But the Government watchdog has blocked it on the grounds that eating an egg for breakfast every day does not constitute a healthy diet."
