the 'tache burning and the fight with the fake blacksmith. For disturbing imagery, the 'badger hunting' on the sand dunes.

The completely unexpected opening scene - a shapeless black plastic 'apparition' emerging from the sea, out of which blithely steps an archetypal english gentleman, who then casually makes a throwaway remark about the weather before strolling away amongst the dunes - no explanation, completely understated and not a shot wasted.

So redolent of the dry eccentricity that characterises the best of the series for me :)

All of the above but one I quote often is 'The cream is in the kitchen' in that precise Diana Rigg diction and I love Steed's response 'I could take it black' :D

Steed rturning to Emmas room with a bottle of Brandy

"Isn't it time you were in bed, you have to be up early for school tomorrow"

Confirms the answer to did they or didn't they as far I'm concerned.... :D

I agree with Hal on this.

This is my favourite scene.

Of course, I enjoy the fencing segment, as well as when Steed is about to burn Piggy Warren's moustache.

Just so long as she didn't bring along a "nip" of brandy!

Because of this thread I had to watch it last night! Loved it! And, remembered it wasn't that far-fetched as I saw on TV the other day that the Nazis had indeed built an underground 'town' on the island of Jersey.

PS: And, i thought for the first time last night - when Emma is fingering the parish records could the close-up of the hand without the glove (in long-shot she's wearing her Emma Peel gloves - I still want some!) be Elizabeth Shepherd's hand as it somehow doesn't look like la Rigg's hand with the long painted nails???? Just a thought.
