That's what I thought. I don't mind a long story arc, but it should reach a natural conclusion and not manipulate a story enough to exaust the viewer's patience!
There was talk of a third LoM season, but John Sim's departure meant the story had two be wrapped up by the second run. I think this was a good thing in a way, as I was getting restless wondering what was going on.
What is the next best series after The Avengers?

"Moon and Son" was great, with Millicent Martin as the gin drinking medium who solved murders.
"Lovejoy" had a lot of great fun lines and antiques too! His beat-up cars weren't quite on the same level as Steed's Bentleys though.
...and I agree about 'Nikita" - a great series, especially the evil Madeleine.... who could ask for a better role model?

It's a bit like the alien conspiracy in 'The X Files' - intriguing to begin with, but it soon becomes confusing. You start to wonder whether the writers have any idea where they're going, and eventually you cease to care.Dandy Forsdyke wrote:One show I've never seen is Heroes - any good?
Besides The Avengers I probably couldn't live without:
Spooks
La Femme Nikita
Doctor Who
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Farscape

Uhhmmm........Lost has already been given an end date (Season 6).cyberrich wrote:Heroes is ok. Nothing to go wild over. I prefer series with stand alone stories or maybe 2 or 3 parters. Heroes like a lot of similar series (Lost, 24) just tend to go on and on and...then the viewers give up before the conclusion.

I never missed an episode of Buffy. Back when the original movie came out with Kristy Swanson and Donald Sutherland (an Avengers alumnus, BTW), I thought it was the dumbest concept on the planet. The TV series was outstanding, though.
It's too bad that Sarah Michelle Gellar has gone all "Hollywood skinny" though. Lately, she looks like a concentration camp survivor.
This is a "before" photo . . . obviously.

I'd agree with most of those but replace "Thriller" (which had a lot of dud episodes) with "Robin of Sherwood" (which didn't).Prendergast wrote:Twin Peaks
Blake's 7
Doctor Who (Classic Series)
Danger Man
The Prisoner
Thriller
Upstairs Downstairs
Danger UXB
Brideshead Revisited
The Simpsons
These too.Allard wrote:The Saint, Yes (Prime) Minister, Sherlock Holmes by Jeremy Brett, The Persuaders
"Man in a Suitcase" is also nicely reminiscent of "The Avengers"/"The Prisoner", just as stylish but not as weird. Like a grubbier version of the early "The Saint".
Last watched: "The Charmers"
