I've meant to pose this question for a while, but can anyone tell me what to expect from the currently available French Season Six boxset? The announcement of the UK season 2 release bodes well for the appearance of subsequent sets, but I fear I'm too impatient for these! I thought that the Season 4...

I rewatched this the other night and - despite knowing its troubled history at the scriptwriting stage - it struck me again what a meticulously produced piece of escapist TV this episode is. Every time I watch this I seem to find something new to admire. It's often the smaller "incidental"...

Another subtle in-joke in The Danger Makers?

Just watched this for the first time today - I had a vague recollection that this wasn't held in such high esteem, but I thought it was tremendous stuff (although anything with Charles Crichton at the helm always gets my vote anyway). Anyway, maybe I'm reading too much into this (or maybe its been r...

Amidst all the lightheartedness and mock-Hammeresque trappings, we have that surprisingly macabre moment when Mrs Peel discovers the poor SMOG agent swinging at the end of the bell rope - an extremely well executed (excuse the pun!) scene...

Alongside Charles Tingwell last week, another sad loss. I grew to love his warmly sardonic role as Ridge in Doomwatch ; the chemistry between the original line-up - Oates, Robert Powell, John Paul and Joby Blanchard - livened up even the flimsiest of scripts (not that there were many in the initial ...

Three-quarters of the way through the French Emma Peel (B/W) set and generally very pleased with picture/sound - the only jarring item to date was the sound being a tad out of sync on the wonderful 'Death at Bargain Prices'. I agree that the sets are wonderful value - can be watched in the original ...

The completely unexpected opening scene - a shapeless black plastic 'apparition' emerging from the sea, out of which blithely steps an archetypal english gentleman, who then casually makes a throwaway remark about the weather before strolling away amongst the dunes - no explanation, completely under...

Charles Tingwell 1923 - 2009

Passed away at the grand age of 86 this morning.

Guest artist in both 'The Nutshell' and 'Return of the Cybernauts' and such a familiar face from my childhood viewings of 'Catweazle'. Many, many credits to his name (small and big screen) and always a joy to watch. Rest in peace Bud

What's the best way to get hold of the french boxsets? Do amazon.fr deliver to the uk? I've had a look on the site but my french isn't the best in the world! I've also checked ebay but the french sets seem to go for silly money, despite the fact they're still in print. Don't know if this will be us...
